Welcome to Bennies Blasts!

Welcome ladies, gentleman, dogs, cats, whomever and whatever. Hello to anyone who would like to read about life, entertainment, athletics, pop culture and anything our hearts desire. This will be my internet home for those interested in reading my thoughts and opinions on various topics. To those of you who know me personally I’m sure that is a scary idea. So, hold on tight and here we go.

At the beginning I would like to separate my posts into three distinct sections. Life, Entertainment, and Athletics. If you are not a sports person that is Ok. However, my posts will all have a copious amount of humor in them and will still be fun to read even if you don’t give a flying fuck about college basketball. That being said I completely understand if that section is not for you. I will just never want to bake cookies with you if we meet in person if you skip that section.

The Entertaiment section of my blog will focus on current events in pop culture such as newer movies and TV shows. I will also compose my thoughts on various topics. For example, who should play Wolverine in Marvel Studios Xmen movies. Spoiler alert the answer is clearly Jeremy Allen White from FX’s The Bear. Step aside Hugh Jackman. My wife dragged me to a three and a half hour one man show of yours where you tap danced in sparkly tights and shook maracas. I will never forgive you.

The Life section of Bennie’s Blasts will be the most open-ended section. I will write about things going on in my life as well as current events. I’m not completely sure what this section will be at the moment, but the possibilities are endless. Without further ado let’s get the ball rolling.

Life:

A lot has gone in my life the past five years. And I mean a lot. I married the love of my life and best friend in 2022. She’s the only person patient enough to live with me and talk to me on a daily basis. I met her during my time as a corporate banker for a large financial institution. We officially met in the break room. It was pretty hot I’m not going to lie. Anyway, that was almost ten years ago at this point. Now our time spent together consists of her reading 12 hours a day and me reading and writing on the couch right next to her. We are officially an old boring couple.

Another thing that has happened is I left my finance and sales career to pursue my true passion of becoming an author. I have been writing my debut novel “The Mighty” off and on for the past five years. I should be done by the end of this year. That is the goal. Then again that was the goal last year so here we go. I am starting to feel like George R. R. Martin II. I promise my book will actually come out, however. Unlike grumpy old George.

My novel is a futuristic fantasy with a lot of comedy. It’s very character driven and I am very excited to share the characters that I have created with the world. It is also a commentary on our current social and environmental climate. I can’t wait to finish it. I have over three hundred pages completed at this moment and have the whole story mapped out. It’s just a matter of putting pen to paper.

I am a humongous animal person. Not only is my love for all animals limitless, but I am literally humongous. I am six and a half feet tall and almost 280 pounds of pure American man. I am an exercise enthusiast so a lot of this weight is not flab. Some of it is but not all ok! I like to powerlift for fun in spite of my doctor telling me its dumb to bench almost 400 pounds for no reason. Whatever Dr. Brian the teenagers who go to the same gym as I think I’m really cool.

I have had many pets over the years. And I mean many. Things got out of hand in when my youth when my parents gave me two guinea pigs. Soon there were over a dozen guinea pigs living at the Benet house. My parents made me give some away to family friends. I will never forget you Opi Jr. I hope the Fox family took good care of you.

Currently my pet arsenal contains Albert and T’challa. Albert is a seven pound Chihuahua Maltese mix who would strike fear into your heart if you dared to step foot on his property or look at his momma. T’challa is an almost thirty-pound black cat who moonlights as the King of Wakanda. He is the nicest cat you will ever meet. Even non cat people can’t resist T’challa.

Athletics:

I will try to cover a good variety of topics in this section. I thought now would be a good time to launch this blog as it is one of my favorite times of the year on the sports calendar. March Madness Baby!

I have watched most of the conference tournaments this weekend. A few things have stood out. First and mainly the Florida Gators. My SEC viewing this season mostly consisted of Alabama and Auburn. Florida won the SEC tournament this weekend. They beat the pants off Alabama in order to do so. I believe they firmly solidified their place as the best team in the best conference in College Basketball by doing so.

Earlier this week I asked my wife who she was picking in March Madness. She said “Florida” with no hesitation. This is a woman whose knowledge about college basketball this season can be summed up by her saying “Cooper Flagg is good.” She only knows that because I have been talking about the kid nonstop since November. Anyway, my wife is an incredible gambler. She was joking around when she came up with Florida but I think there is something to it. Now watch Florida lose in the second round to VCU or some other random team after I praised them.

My main takeaway from Florida is their star point guard Walter Clayton Jr. That kid can hoop. If he was a little younger he would be a top ten draft pick. His size and shooting ability will translate seamlessly to his NBA career. Right now he is projected as a late first round pick. Whoever gets him is going to have a good scoring option on their team for years to come.

My next post Thursday night will have a lot more March Madness talk so I will wait to dive deeper into the tournament until then.

I will not only talk about basketball I promise. I will provide plenty of football commentary as well as baseball, soccer, golf, tennis and maybe hockey once in a blue moon. Hockey is the only sport I never really played in my youth so my hockey knowledge is limited to what I have learned playing NHL 25. Go Icehogs!

Entertaiment:

If you are not watching the best show on TV right now in Sev….. WHITE LOTUS, get it together! This is easily one of the best shows I have ever seen. I have watched wayyyyy too much TV in my life, so I know what I am talking about. I have no kids, and my wife doesn’t care so I can watch whatever I want. It is glorious.

The current season of White Lotus set in Thailand has been fantastic so far.

Spoilers ahead. Will notate when they end.

Patrick Schwarzenegger has been the breakout star for me. I am very intrigued to see where his character goes. The one-sided sexual tension between him and his siblings is both fascinating and horrifying. Walton Goggins has been great as always playing a dark and mysterious rich guy named Rick. It has also been fun to watch the game of cat and mouse between Belinda and Gregg. I really hope Belinda gets retribution for Tanya. Sadly, that just doesn’t feel like the type of happy ending that will take place on White Lotus.

End Spoilers.

Yes I am also watching Severance, and it is also very interesting. Milchek is the man. I know plenty of people, my wife included think this is the best show on TV right now. I can understand why as it is a phenomenal show. Personally, I just find White Lotus more entertaining.

Other shows I am currently watching are Dare Devil born again and Survivor. I will cover the new seasons of Love Island USA so that will be great. “Fuckkkk AAAron”. If you know you know.

That concludes this blast. I will see you all again Thursday night or Friday morning. Please feel free to reach out on my Instagram. I am not a big fan of social media but that will change a little as I continue to write.

Ciao ciao for now.
