White Lotus
White Lotus did it. The fantastic third season of White Lotus broke down their barriers and showed the two Ratliff brothers getting intimate. It was both worse than I thought, and at the same time not as bad as it could have been.
The Ratliff brothers succeeded in the sexual escapades this week. They both hooked up with French Canadian dime piece Chloe. However, while Lachlan and Chloe were really going at it, Lachlan was nice enough to give his brother Saxon a helping hand. That is right, the dude jerked off his brother while he was balls deep in Ms. Chloe…. Yikes.
I guess it could have been worse for the Ratliff brothers. Don’t get me wrong this is still really bad. I’m just saying it could have been worse. Thankfully both brothers appeared to be properly disgusted by their actions. I really don’t know where the show goes from here. The brothers are going to have one awkward conversation when they finally decide to talk to each other. I can see Saxon avoiding his brother during the next episode. This will lead to a highly anticipated showdown in the season finale.
This dynamic weirdly reminds me of my little chihuahua Albert. He likes to hump his brothers as an act of dominance. Am I wrong or did Lachlan jerk off his brother to exert his dominance? As Chloe said, “We all have our things.”
As much as I love this show I am going to be relived to not have to talk about incest on a weekly basis. A few times a year is ok. Incest discussions every week is a bit much.
I am very very concerned about Tim Ratliff at this moment. He has progressed from daydreaming about killing himself to daydreaming about killing his wife as well. I am far from an expert on mental health but even I know that fantasizing about harming others is a big red flag.
Tim’s storyline honestly makes me a little uncomfortable. I do not think Tim is going to be the mass shooter who is hinted at in the beginning of the first episode. I just abhor gun violence so much. I feel this show is doing such a good job of portraying a mental breakdown. It’s almost too good a job to be honest with you. I am genuinely afraid for what is going to happen to Tim. With all the acts of gun violence taking place in our country right now I am having a hard time separating this show from real life.
I really enjoyed the argument between Lori and Jaqueline. Jaqueline had it coming. I mean honestly, who encourages their friend to sleep with a guy and then sleeps with them herself? Let’s not forget that she is married and is cheating on her husband in front of her friends. Get it together Jaqueline. I expect more from aging actresses. Betty White would never have done this.
I know it comes from a place of guilt but still. I would respect Jaqueline way more if she just admitted her mistake and apologized. I honestly believe that is all Lori is looking for. This is another reason why Lori is easily the best of these three characters.
Survivor
It was easily the best episode of the season this week on survivor. The emotional scene with Eva and her autism during the challenge honestly brought some tears to my eyes. A huge part of what makes Survivor one of the best shows on television is that these are not actors, these are not aspiring social influencers, these are regular people. Although admittedly a good portion of them will undoubtedly go on to be influencers. I am just saying they are not there purely for the clout like stars of other reality programming.
Occasionally you get very human moments on the show that go beyond the gameplay. Joe comforting Eva during her autism episode is one of those moments. Eva has been one of the most interesting players this season. I admire this young woman’s determination and work ethic. I hope for nothing but good things for her the rest of the season.
Final tribal was honestly very strange. I was really hoping we would finally get rid of Sai. I want the season to move on without focusing on her anymore. As the show has gone on, she has gotten more and more obnoxious.
One of the cardinal sins of survivor is getting emotional and being rude to other players. Sai seems to have zero hesitations about being rude and standoffish to the players she wants to vote out. She also has no problem telling the cameras in her confessionals who she dislikes and why. If you break Survivor down to its simplest levels it is a glorified popularity contest. You are never going to win by complaining after challenges like Sai did this week.
Sadly, it was Bianca who was voted out not Sai. Cedrick has some weird attachment to Sai and ultimately decided to vote for Bianca. Bianca made the fatal error of saying she did not have a vote minutes before tribal. This broke Cedrick and other players trust and led to her downfall.
The merge is next week, and I am very excited. I have a good feeling my girl Cammilla and her allies are going to take a firm hold on the game. She and her allies just appear to be playing the game on a social level that is far superior to the other castaways.
Athletics
I want to start out by saying that my thoughts are with JuJu Watkins. For those of you who do not know she is a star guard at the University of Southern California. She tore her ACL during the NCAA Tournament. She is a very promising young player with a long pro career ahead of her. I wish her a speedy and effective recovery.
Its time I admit something about my sports fandom right now. If you can’t tell by now my favorite sport is easily basketball. I wanted to play college basketball growing up. There was a specific school I wanted to play at. It’s a school a lot of you probably hate. Duke.
My parents went to the University of North Carolina for graduate school. My father was the most passionate, obnoxious, rambunctious UNC fan you could ever imagine. For this reason, I decided to root for Duke. I was also one of the most rebellious youths you would have ever met.
Sometimes I feel like I am admitting to people that I have committed murder when I tell them I am a fan of Duke’s basketball program. The look of pure disgust that it occasionally thrown at me is somewhat hurtful.
I was a huge fan of coach Krzyzewski when I was younger. I always wanted to play for him. I also like to point out that he was the coach of the USA men’s basketball team for a long time. So, if you hate coach K you kind of hate America.
I bring this all up to say that I am very nervous for Duke’s sweet sixteen matchup tonight. They play the University of Arizona. There is one player on Arizona who strikes pure fear into my heart. Mother fuckin Caleb Love.
Caleb Love is a great player. He used to play great for the University of North Carolina until he transferred to Arizona. He was so good in fact he almost single handedly eliminated Duke in the final four a few years ago. He also played incredibly well in coach K’s final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. UNC defeated Duke in a major upset. I am still bitter about both these games.
Love is a very hot and cold player. Unfortunately, for Blue Devil nation he always seems to be white hot when it comes to playing against Duke. God I am so nervy. Go away Caleb you should have been in the NBA years ago! What are you still doing here? Get a job!
Life
It has been a very eventful week in the Benet household. My wife decided to bring home a new dictator early this week. He is a miniature poodle named Napolean Wembanyama Benet. He has been bossing us around since the moment he entered this home.
Despite only being four and a half pounds, he is scaring the pants off Albert and T’challa. I am sure there will be a lot of fun puppy stories to come. I know I look beyond comical walking such a tiny dog due to my large stature. I am used to it by now but that will never stop neighbors from making comments such as “how did you get that squirrel on a leash?” Also “where is the rest of your dog?”
Our other pets are slowly coming around to him. Albert doesn’t know what to think of him because he can’t boss him around and dominate him the way he would like.
That is all I have for now. I will see you all this weekend to recap Daredevil Born Again and the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight.
A bientot.
