Celtics vs Knicks
This has been a very intriguing playoff series to say the least. Sadly, I need to address the elephant in the room when it comes to this series. That elephant is the tragic Achilles injury to Jayson Tatum.
There is no debating that Tatum is one of the best players in the league. One can debate his place in the hierarchy of great basketball players. However, one simply cannot deny that he belongs in the conversation about the best players in the world.
Tatum was the best player on a team that won the NBA championship last season. Achieving the feat alone garners a lot of respect by hoops fanatics such as myself.
The terribly sad Tatum injury aside, this series has been vastly entertaining. Jalen Brunson continues his one-man mission to make me look like an idiot. He has been nothing short of amazing in this series. He continues to come through for New York in the clutch as he continues his historically great post season.
The other side of the coin has been just how underwhelming Boston has been playing in this series. To me it looks like the piper is coming to collect the bill. The Celtics are the definition of a team that lives by the three and dies by the three. To me it looks like they are dying a long slow death at the hand of their missed three pointers.
Even with a healthy Jayson Tatum I think the Knicks will finish this series tomorrow. I will be very surprised if there is a game seven.
Cavaliers vs Pacers
This series is the most painful for me to talk about. I lost a lot of money and respect from this series. I was very confident in my prediction of the Cleveland Cavaliers prevailing. I could not have been more wrong.
Fucking Donovan Mitchell. I have never been sold on him as a number one option on an NBA playoff team. I think that he was the main reason that his Utah Jazz teams always flamed out in the playoffs. He fooled me and a lot of people by convincing me that he had changed his ways. Nope! Same underachieving dude.
Just like Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Haliburton has earned a buttload of respect this post season. He has proven that last season’s run to the Eastern Conference finals was no fluke. That being said, I am going to have a hard time picking them against either the Knicks or Celtics in the next round. Will your boy learn from his mistakes? Probably not!
Thunder vs Nuggets
This series may not have been as close or entertaining as a lot of people might have hoped. For pure basketball nerds like me, it has been incredibly entertaining.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the much younger and more talented Oklahoma City Thunder team grow up in front of our eyes. It took them a few games to figure out how to beat the much more experienced Nuggets squad.
Nikola Jokic has not played as well as one would expect in this series. His shooting woes have been concerning. However, what makes Nikola the best player in the world is not his tremendous shooting ability on its own. He has still been able to greatly affect the games with his passing and rebounding. His ability to keep the series close against a team like the Thunder has been incredibly impressive.
The sixth game of this series is currently taking place. I am fairly confident that the Thunder will finish off the Nuggets and punch their ticket into the Western Conference finals.
Timberwolves vs Warriors
This series was sadly ruined the moment that Stephen Curry pulled his hamstring. The Warriors entire team has been built around Stephen Curry for years. When he isn’t there, they simply do not have the talent to compete in the playoffs.
Credit should be given to the Timberwolves who confidentially dispatched of their inferior opponent. It is not their fault that Stephen Curry pulled his Hammy.
Anthony Edwards is much watch TV at this point in his career. I will not miss a single game of the West Finals. I will stay up late just to watch him alone.
A bientot!
