First of all happy fourth of July to all of my Pooolievers. Yes I am workshopping nicknames for my followers. Pretty sure that Pooolievers is not going to be the winner. It is the leader in the clubhouse unfortunately. I am very open to other suggestions. DM on insta baby.
I am here this Independence Day eve to share my thoughts on some shocking transactions in the NBA. As I was writing that sentence I leaned back in my wooden chair, and it broke! Holy guacamole I’m fucking fat as shit!
Ok I know I’m not fat. I’m just very solid. But I am also a little fat. That is the third chair I have obliterated in less than three months. Your boy needs to lay off the string cheese until he can sit in furniture and there not be an above average chance of it being smashed into oblivion.
ENOUGH ABOUT MY FAT CHEESE BUTT LETS TALK SOME BALL.
When I saw that Damian Lillard got waived by the Milwaukee bucks my jaw literally dropped to the floor. I understand the reasoning behind it due to Dame’s Achillies injury. It is still one of the most desperate moves I can recall in NBA history.
The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to waive Damian Lillard so that they could sign former Indiana Pacers forward Myles Turner. It is painfully obvious that the Buck’s motivation behind this move is to field a competitive team behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. They are very scared that he will ask to leave them if he feels he has no chance to win in Milwaukee.
Poor Damian Lillard is going to be out the entire season next season. By waiving him they could add Turner and undeniably improve their team.
I obviously feel very bad for Dame but not too bad. The dude is essentially being paid over one hundred million dollars to be told to go away and rehab his injury in peace. Once he is healthy, he will be able to hand pick which team he is going to play for. Assuming his rehab goes well Damian Lillard is going to be just fine.
The Lillard waiving was easily the most shocking moment of the NBA offseason so far. The most important moment on the other hand, was the Houston Rockets successful acquisition of Kevin Durant. The Rockets are a very young talented team that was only lacking a true superstar. The hope is Kevin Durant has enough left in the tank to be that true superstar.
The Rockets fell short in the playoffs to the Warriors in large part to their lack of star power. Their young players wilted down the stretch of the close games. On the other hand, the Warriors elder superstars, such as Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, consistently came up big in the tight moments of the game. The hope for the Rockets is that Durant will be able to provide that same level of efficiency down the stretch for the Rockets in close games.
Will this trade work out for them? Only time will tell. I think it is Western Conference finals or bust for the Rockets next season.
Some other moves that stood out to me were the Boston Celtics cutting costs and unloading both Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. The Celtics fans in my life are trying to underplay the key roles these two players had during their championship run two seasons ago. When Tatum is back healthy and the Celtics are ready to make another run at the championship Holiday and Porzingis will be missed. I guranTEEV it.
Before I sign off for the holiday weekend, I need to take a few minutes to make fun of Lebron. The dude opted into a player option for over fifty million dollars. Congrats bro that is awesome. The funny thing to me was he then had his agent make a statement to the media saying Lebron is going to closely monitor the Lakers transactions this summer. BRO. By opting in to his contract for over fifty million dollars he was instantly ruining any cap flexibility that the Lakers could have to make meaningful transactions.
All props to Lebron getting his money and opting into the highest possible salary. The man has earned it. If he really wanted to win in Los Angeles he should have done a Tom Brady and taken less money to improve the team around him. Actions speak louder than words Mr. James!
