NFC West: Revenge of The 49ers

This has quietly been one of the best divisions in football for quite some time. Three teams from this division, the Seahawks, 49ers, and Rams, have each made the Super Bowl twice the last ten seasons. If you win this division, you have a very good chance of winning the NFC.

Some of the best coaches in all of football have resided in this division. There are still two left in the Ram’s Sean Mcvay and the 49ers Kyle Shannahan. It will be a battle of wits between these two this season. Both the Rams and 49ers reshaped their rosters to better challenge the other. Whoever wins the head-to-head matchup between those two teams will win the division and have a legitimate chance of winning the entire conference.

1st: San Francisco 49ers

The injury bug that plagued this team last year is gone. The 49ers are back baby!

I have preached for years about how talented this team is. They draft and develop players as well as anyone. The defense is still among the best in the league. This team is poised to prove that last year was an anomaly and return to their winning ways.

Head coach Kyle Shannahan receives too much flak for not winning the big game. Many have fallen victim to Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

An NFC Championship game between the 49ers and Eagles would be a very satisfying matchup.

Over under 10.5, Steviepooooo is going to crush that over!

2nd: Los Angeles Rams

The Ram’s continue to succeed year after year despite numerous player departures. They draft well and fill the massive voids left by players such as Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp.

My main question regarding this team is whether or not Matthew Stafford can remain healthy. The reports coming out of training camp are downright concerning. If he goes down, the chances of the Rams winning the division are zero.

Over under 9.5, Its close but I am going to go with a slight under. I think they win nine games and finish as the seven seed.

3rd: Seattle Seahawks

The story of the Seahawk’s season will be whether or not Sam Darnold can play as well as he did last season for the Vikings. The Vikings clearly thought that last season was going to be Arnold’s peak as they let him walk for nothing.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle between Jets Sam Darnold and Vikings Sam Darnold.

He will be way better than he was when he was the starter for the Jets. He will not be quite as good as he was throwing the ball to Justin Jefferson and company.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp are both fine receivers. Darnold will still be missing the all time get out of jail free card that he had in Minnesota with Justin Jefferson.

The ceiling of this team is not very high, but neither is the floor. I would be very surprised if they finish the year with less than six wins. I would also be equally surprised if they finish with more than eight.

Over under 8.5, slight under.

4th: Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals need to learn to do the tough thing and prepare to part ways with Kyler Murray. They will never go anywhere with this man at the helm of their organization. Kyler is full of great plays and highlights, its the simple things that he makes look difficult. I sadly just don’t ever see him being a winner in this league.

There really is not to get excited about when looking at this team on paper. Marvin Harrison Jr. was somewhat disappointing as a rookie. I expect him to be better this year.

This team will be far from one of the worst in the league, but I give them almost no shot to make the playoffs. Once they move on from Kyler and find a better option at quarterback, they can begin their journey to being a premiere team in the NFC. As long as Kyler is there, their development will be stunted.

Over under 8.5, heavy under.

That is all for me this evening.

A bientot!
