NFC North: A Household Divided

This is the division that hits the closest to home for your boy Steviepoooooo. As a lifelong Bears fan and part time Lion’s enthusiast, this is the division that I watch the most closely.

The Bears are my biological children, and the Lions are my step kids. To be honest the only reason I even tolerate the Lions is because they beat the god damn Packers on a regular basis. The Packers are the scourge of society and America would be a better place if they packed up and moved their communist regime to Russia.

Oh, the Vikings are there too. Don’t forget about them.

1st: Green Bay Butthole Packers

It kills me to write this but as much as I hate them there is no denying that the Packers are a well-run organization. Communism works apparently. To those of you who do not understand why I keep calling the Packers Communists, read a god damn book! The Packers are publicly owned and have no private owner. They are “a team of people”. Blehk

This is still a young team with a lot of potential. Their offense will once again be solid. For once in my life, I would love to watch a Packers team with a shitty offense. That does not appear to be happening any time soon. As long as head coach Matt Lefleur is at the helm.

Jordan Love is not in the same discussion as Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre, but he still needs to be taken seriously as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His main problem has been durability. There are already reports about him getting banged up during training camp. The man might be made out of porcelain.

The secondary will be a question mark this year after the departure of one of the best corners in the league in Jaire Alexander.

Over under, 9.5. Even though it makes me want to puke I am going to take the over.

2nd: Detroit Lions

So much has been made about all the coaching departures of this team. The departures that the team is going to miss the most are on the offensive line.

Their run game will not be nearly as dominant as it was the past few seasons. Quarterback Jared Goff will be under pressure this season more than the past two seasons combined. As much as I want Goff to do well, he has earned the reputation as being one of the worst quarterbacks under duress for a reason. If he has time to dissect the defense, he is great. If you can pressure him, he is not so great.

This team is still loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. The main reason I have them taking a step back from last season is because they were the best team in football last regular season. They will not be the best again this year but still will be in contention.

The return of Aiden Hutchinson will be huge for them. That man is a one-man wrecking crew. I cannot wait to see him make NFL quarterbacks pee their pants again this year.

Over under, 10.5. I think they win 11 so its a slight over for me dawg.

3rd: Minnesota Vikings

There is a new man on the Minnesota Vikings. That man’s name is second year quarterback JJ McCarthy.

The Vikings will live and die by the success of their young QB. They clearly believe in him quite a lot. They not only traded up to select him tenth overall during the draft over a year ago, but they let Sam Darnold walk away for nothing. Darnold had a great statistical season but his inability to perform in big games was his downfall. The hope for the Vikings is that JJ McCarthy will be able to come through for them when it matters most.

With an assist from an all time great college defensive and possibly sign stealing, McCarthy was able to win a National Title at the University of Michigan a few years ago. The Vikings are praying that McCarthy will bring that championship pedigree to their franchise that has never won a Super Bowl.

This is one of the most intriguing teams in the league to me. They are amongst the most talented in the league. Their defense is also one of the best if not the best in the league. They are great on the defensive line, in the middle with the linebackers, and in the secondary. They also have the best receiver in football in Justin Jefferson. There will be no excuses if they fail to make a deep playoff run.

Their coach Kevin O’Connell needs to be mentioned as one of the best in the league for his continued success the past few years. The man knows how to maximize talent.

Over under 8.5. It’s another over for me. Three teams from this division are going to make the playoffs for the second straight year. Best division in football.

4th: Da Bears 😦

To be clear I do not think that my hometown Bears will be a flaming pile of garbage like other last place teams. They are a victim of their circumstances being in the best division in the league. They will show considerable improvement under the leadership of new head coach Ben Johnson. Unfortunately for them they just have too much ground to make up in their division.

There is too much talent on offensive for this team not to be at least competent on that side of the ball. If Caleb Williams is not considerably better this season than he was last year, I will be insufferable. Poor Mrs. Steviepooooo will have to listen to me bemoan him being drafted over Jayden Daniels until the end of time.

His offensive line is much improved; his receivers are elite. He has two awesome tight ends. No excuses Caleb! None! Ball out!

Da Bears secondary is solid, but I am worried about their defensive line. I am not sure they will be able to put consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Over under 8.5. Only going under because they are going to get fucked up by their division rivals. I foresee seven wins in their future.

A bientot!
