Basketball is Bennie’s favorite sport. He likes the way they dribble up and down the court. Baseball is Bennie’s third favorite sport. He likes the way they throw the ball back and forth. Football is Bennie’s second favorite sport. He likes the way that legal physical assault occurs on every single play and multiple players constantly suffer life altering head injuries
Soccer is Bennie’s fourth favorite sport. He loves the way they run around the field and cry about being touched to disgruntled middle aged men from foreign countries.
Hockey is Bennie’s least favorite sport. He loves the way only rich white kids can afford to play it. If lower income families could afford to buy their kids gear, they would be fucked! π
World Series Check In
After a surprising romping in game one of the World Series, the Dodgers bounced back. This was thanks to an all-time performance by starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. In addition to having the coolest name of any starting pitcher, Yamamoto pitched his second consecutive complete game. It was not a shut out this time, but he only conceded one run to the high-powered Blue Jays offense.
This is going to be a very entertaining back and forth series. My early prediction of the Dodgers in five is still alive. I am going to continue to ride with that prediction until the Jays win a second game.
NBA Atlantic Division
1st: New York Knicks
This is the most pressure on a New York Knicks team since the 90s. If they do not win the Eastern Conference, this season will be dubbed a complete failure!
With the injuries to fellow Eastern Conference contenders such as the Celtics and Pacers, the Knicks need to capitalize on this opportunity. They added good bench pieces in the offseason such as Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson. I firmly believe that they can get it done.
Not to get ahead of things, but if the Knicks do indeed win the East, The winner of the West could be so tired from their difficult path to the finals the Knicks will have a real chance.
Jalen Brunson for MVP is a very enticing bet. If the Knicks have by far the best record in the conference, he could very well be walking away with that hardware. The dude is 200-1 at the moment! That is crazy odds! Sprinkle a few dollars on that bet just for shits and giggles. Tee hee.
2nd: Boston Celtics
This is going to be a very entertaining Celtics team this season. It appears that Jayson Tatum will indeed return during the second half of this season. If the Celtics can do enough in his absence to keep themselves relevant, this team could easily be the team that you do not want to play in the first round of the playoffs. Can you imagine being the Knicks or Cavs and having to face a healthy Celtics team in the first round? That would suck!
Even if Tatum does come back, this team feels a couple pieces short of competing for an NBA title. The loss of Porzingis and Jrue Holiday is going to be felt come playoff time.
I am very excited to see Jaylen Brown fully unleashed. I would not be shocked if he averaged over thirty points per game. This team has a chance to be the first team in NBA history to shoot more three-point shots than two-point attempts throughout the season. The age of analytics is in fully effect!
3rd: Philadelphia 76ers
Even with the walking talking human disaster of Joel Embiid still on their roster, the 76ers have enough talent to finish ahead of the other two lackluster teams in this division.
Early on rookie guard VJ Edgecombe appears to be a star in the making. Pairing him with Jared McCain in the backcourt is a very exciting prospect for this team’s future.
This is the most volatile team in the league. They have so much talent that it would not shock me to see them finish with one of the league’s best records. I just do not trust Embiid to stay on the court for them to ever form any sort of consistency.
4th: Toronto Raptors
This is one of the more confusing teams in the league. Since they won their franchises first and only title in 2019, they have been nothing but a series of disappointments.
They are in a similar spot to my hometown Bulls. They will never be bad enough to get a super high draft pick and get a franchise altering player. They will also subsequently never be good enough to be a real title contender.
As long as Scotty Barnes is your most talented player, you are going NOWHERE!
5th: Brooklyn Nets
The antithesis of the Raptors, the Nets are rebuilding correctly. They are loading up on young players and preparing to suck for the next few years. As much of a bummer as it is for fans of these teams, this is how you need to rebuild in the NBA. Eventually the odds will break in your favor, and you will be able to draft a great young player that you can build around.
A lot of people were questioning the Nets logic in drafting four undersized, ball dominant guards this past summer. Personally, I loved it. The chances that you will land a really good player that late in the draft are very slim. Why not take four shots at the same target? Hopefully one, or even two of these guards, will break out and be a reliable starter for this team going forward.
A bientot!
