The Blue Jays Blew it! NBA Northwest Division

World Series

This was an all-time tough loss for the Toronto Blue Jays. They were riding high going into the weekend. All they had to do was win one of two games at home to win their first World Series title in over thirty years. They had the lead in the ninth inning of game seven and BLEW IT!

The fourteen Canadians who actually give a flying fuck about baseball, are going to be in a depression fog for at least two weeks following game seven. After leading the entire game, The Blue Jays gave up a game tying home run to the Dodgers worst batter, Miguel Rojas. Nothing against Mr. Rojas, but with all the superstar names in the Dodgers’ lineup, no one would have guessed that he would be the one to have the biggest hit of the season.

After giving up the devastating home run, the Blue Jays managed to load the bases with only one out in the bottom of the ninth. Two spectacular defensive plays by the Dodgers sent the game to extra innings and sent the Blue Jays to their DOOM!

The Fresh Prince of West Hollywood, Will Smith, hit the go-ahead home run in the eleventh inning. The rest was history.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto had the most impressive postseason for a starting pitcher since Madison Bumgarner in 2014. That man earned his World Series MVP trophy.

This was easily the most entertaining World Series since 2016. What a win for Baseball’s popularity as a whole. People will not only be talking about this series for a long long time, but game seven will be remembered forever.

Some people hate the super teams like the Dodgers. I personally think they are great for the sport. How many people were on the edge of their seats last night rooting hard against the Dodgers? All of Canada at the minimum. Having an evil empire at the pinnacle of a sport is a good thing. People will root for and be thoroughly emotionally invested in the downfall of said empire. The Dodgers downfall will come. They will not win every World Series for the rest of time. That is a Steviepoooooo guaranpoop!

NBA Northwest Preview

Only on Bennies Blasts do you get a World Series recap, and an NBA Divisional preview six games into the season. Hold on to your butts because away we go!

1st: Oklahoma City Thunder

This is the easiest prediction of the entire NBA season. The Thunder were the youngest team in the NBA when they won the championship last season. Another year of seasoning should make them even better. Not to mention that this team has yet to lose a game this season. Being the third team to ever win seventy games in an NBA season is definitely in play for this team.

I look for their very young players, like Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace, to take major leaps forward. Wallace will be one of the best bench players in the league. Holmgren can take a leap and become one of the twenty best players in the world.

2nd: Denver Nuggets

This is the best division in the NBA. The proof is right here. The Nuggets are the second-best team in the world, and I have them schedule to finish second in their own division. Remember if any team besides the Thunder or the Nuggets win the Title this year, I will live stream myself eating chicken nuggets in a thunderstorm until I puke.

This team has the best player in the world, Nikola Jokic. As long as the Joker is on your squad, your team is a contender. The addition of Cameron Johnson from the Nets is going to be one of the best additions come playoff time. He is going to help this team’s spacing significantly. He will make life much easier for the likes of Jamal Murray.

3rd: Minnesota Timberwolves

This team is another reason why this is the best division in basketball. The Wolves could very well represent the Western Conference in the NBA finals. They have been knocking in the door the past two seasons, having reached the conference finals twice. Is this the year that they break through and finally reach The Finals? Nope!

I could easily see Antman Anthony Edwards reading this as motivation. He will be determined to make you boy eat some soggy chicken nuggets.

I still really like this team. They are so young, so athletic, so promising. Unfortunately for them, they are just not quite on the same level as the Nuggets or Thunder. A key addition come January or February could change the equation. They need to add a good small forward to take the next step. Maybe Michael Porter Jr. will become available when the Nets season inevitably implodes.

4th: Utah Jazz

This team is not good. They are not going be terrible either. They are going to be sufficiently average.

Lucky for them and their fans, I think they have some pieces in place such as Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr, to be very relevant in a few years. You don’t want to throw the name “Kevin Durant” around lightly, but what little we have seen from Ace Bailey so far, he is reminding me of a young Durant. He has a lot of work to be as good of a shooter as Durant, but the potential is there.

This team will endure one more year of tanking before they really take a step forward. It would be cool to see them land local product Aj Dybansta in the draft.

5th: Portland Trail Blazers

This is the most forgettable team in the NBA. It is not good when the biggest story involving your franchise is whether or not your head coach is going to get a lifetime ban from the sport of basketball for illegal gambling.

This team is not completely devoid of talent, but there is going to be very little for Portland fans to get excited about.

Their most intriguing storyline on their roster is whether the second overall pick from two years ago, Scoot Henderson, can finally live up to his potential. He has shown flashes but has so far been well below expectations.

Another interesting situation is whether Chinese sensation, Yang Hansen, can play enough to justify the high draft pick that the Blazers used on him. A lot of writers, your boy included, think that the motivation behind his pick was a marketing opportunity to sell merchandise to Chinese basketball fans who are obsessed with Yang. If that is indeed the case, caps off to you Blazers executives. Congrats on the Jersey sales.

A bientot!
