It has been some time since your boy has written about American Football. You can bet your sweet ass that Steviepooooo has some thoughts!
Thursday Night: Seahawks 38 Rams 37
This was the most exciting NFL game this season. That is of course, until the magic of the Bears Packers game, took place on Saturday night. This game will have to settle for second most exciting game to date.
A big difference between this game and the Bears Packers game, is that this game was incredibly exciting throughout its entirety. The Bears Packers game on the other hand, only really picked up in intensity towards the end.
Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua firmly established himself, as the wide receiver you would most want on your team for the rest of the season. The man was able to put aside the distractions that he caused during the week, by insulting NFL referees on a livestream. He turned in the game of his life. At least to date.
The Rams thought they had this game in hand. They were up two touchdowns and two extra points, in the fourth quarter. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold took the first step towards flipping the script on his career. He was able to bury old ghosts and deliver huge plays, in a big game, for the first time ever. Will Darnold be able to continue doing so and deliver a second Super Bowl to Seattle? Darnotsolutely!
Saturday
Eagles 29 Commanders 18
This game looked a lot better on paper, when the NFL schedule was announced, in the spring. Thanks to the Commanders disaster of a season, this game was almost devoid of drama.
The Eagles came in as heavy favorites. They took care of business in the nation’s capital. The NFC East belongs to Philadelphia. Based on the state of the rest of the teams in this division, that title might be theirs for a few years to come.
Bears 22 Packers 16
This was such a heartwarming game for lifelong Bears fans. The last few decades have been TOUGH!
I am now firmly a believer, in the ultra-talented Caleb Williams. His throw last week to DJ Moore, was the best pass I have ever seen by a Bears quarterback. Granted, that was not a very high bar to clear.
The Iceman followed up his act last week, with the greatest game of his young career. His touchdown on fourth down, to an undrafted rookie, Jahae Walker, was pure insanity. To follow that up with a pass that the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, called “A 10 out of 10 and an A++” to win the game to DJ Moore, was a thing of absolutely beauty.
These next few sentences are about to kill me. Credit needs to be given to the Packers. They played so well, despite the copious number of injuries that they have suffered. Backup quarterback Malik Willis was phenomenal. He had me swearing up a storm in my living room, due to his fantastic play. He has done this a few times in relief of Jordan Love. I would be willing to go so far to say, he deserves another shot at being a starter in this league.
Sunday Early Window
Bengals 45 Dolphins 21
Hopefully depressed Joe Burrow feels a little better after this dominating win. I wouldn’t mind it, if these teams swapped quarterbacks, in the offseason. Joe Burrow deserves to live in Miami, after the past few dismal years in Cincinnati.
Panthers 23 Buccaneers 20
The Panthers took their first significant step, towards becoming the champions, of the worst division in professional football. The better team won this game. Neither of these teams will do much of anything, no matter who wins the division and makes the playoffs.
Vikings 16 Giants 13
I am a firm believer that no NFL coaching staff, will openly try to throw games, in order to improve their draft position. However, the incredibly conservative play calls by the New York Giants, really have me questioning this belief. They did not throw a fucking pass until the second quarter. How can that be the case? Especially when you should view this game as a glorified practice, for their rookie quarterback.
Congratulations Giants. You still hold the number one draft slot in the upcoming draft.
Chargers 34 Cowboys 17
The Cowboys looked like a team that knew that they were almost mathematically eliminated. The Chargers on the other hand, played like a team that is still very much alive for the number one overall seed, in the AFC. This was an embarrassing showing for the Cowboys in the big D.
Titans 26 Chiefs 9
The Chiefs decided to take this Sunday off. This is some much-needed rest after seven straight deep playoff runs. The end result, they lost to one of the worst teams in the league.
Bills 23 Brows 20
If I was a Bills fan, I would have liked to have won this game, by a more comfortable margin. They got the road win, and that is all that matters.
Shedeur Sanders needs to not hold on to the ball for twenty years, every time he drops back in the pocket. He is going to get murdered one of these days.
Saints 29 Jets 6
The Saints might have their quarterback of the future, in Tyler Shough. The Jets have nothing.
Sunday Late Window
Jaguars 34 Broncos 20
This was the ultimate statement win by the Jaguars. They need to be taken seriously, as a team that can make some noise in the playoffs. I am not saying they will make the Super Bowl by any means. I could see them advance to the AFC Championship game, and I would not be shocked.
Good job Jaguars. I believe in you.
Falcons 26 Cardinals 19
Both of these teams will look drastically different next season. New coaches, new quarterbacks. Congratulations on being the slightly more competent team Falcons. You hurt your draft position. Oh wait, you traded the pick to the Rams! You idiots!
Texans 23 Raiders 21
This was a very concerning win for the Texans. A real contender would have demolished the reeling, Raiders. As great as their defense is, I am not sure they have enough offensive fire power to win multiple games in the playoffs. They are completely devoid of a rushing game. That is usually not a recipe for success in the playoffs.
Steelers 29 Lions 24
The biggest story of this game will be DK Metcalf punching a Detroit Lions fan, in the middle of the game. What the fuck was he doing? Why was he even talking to that weirdo? A suspension of at least one game is sure to be granted.
This was another tough loss for the Lions. They still have so much talent, all over the field. There is no longer any question that they are not the same team, that they were last season. They need to spend all offseason figuring out why that is.
A bientot!
