NBA Finals 2026: Grown Ass Men Defeat Young Boys

The best finals in ten years are now complete. The New York Knickerbockers won their first NBA Finals in 53 years. Congrats to the Knicks, I guess.

Although the series only lasted five games, every game was close down the stretch. OG Anunoby’s tip in to win game four, will be remembered by Hoops lovers for the rest of their lives. OG is a true Original Gangster. Damn I wish that guy played for a different team.

Mrs. Steviepoooooo and I attended a Knicks Warriors game in March 2025. I have to hand it to New York; it was the most intense regular season NBA game I have ever attended in my life. I have gone to a handful of Detroit Pistons home games the past few years, no offense to Detroit, but it felt as though those fans could have been asleep, and it would not have made any difference.

The atmosphere and the energy in Madison Square Garden that evening was unparalleled. I found myself rooting hard to the New York Knicks for the first, and only time in my life.

I’m fairly certain that I told the Warrior’s Draymond Green to suck my dick. In all honestly, subconsciously I did not want the rabid Knicks fans to know that I was not one of them. Some of the people around me felt like legitimate psychopaths.

Let’s start with the negative side of this series. There is a massive number of videos that show Knicks fans legitimately assaulting Spurs fans in the streets of New York.

The worst video of them all, was the video where disgusting Knicks fans threw eggs at my boy Wemby. Had I been there, I would have taken those eggs and shoved them down those pieces of shit’s throats until they choked and died. Nobody hurts my boy Wemby! Nobody! He is my savior.

In regards to the series itself, the videos of Spurs fans being assaulted by Knicks fans perfectly encapsulates the action on the court. This was the most physical series that I have watched in quite some time.

I would love for the NBA haters who incorrectly claim that players in the NBA don’t play defense, to watch this series. That uninformed opinion is only held by people who only watch clips, and don’t watch entire games. Yes, every once in a while there will be a sequence where a player has less than stellar effort defensively. It is a long regular season, but those players are ridiculed by coaches, other players, and fans alike. I have seen poor effort in every single professional sport. It is not something unique to the NBA.

The defensive strategy for the Knicks on the seven-foot six alien, Victor Wembanyama, was to foul him on almost every play. It proved to be a great strategy. Wemby looked exhausted and completely worn down at the end of every game. Without Wembanyama at full strength, the baby Spurs did not stand a chance. They wilted late in every single game.

If the Spurs are going to point fingers as to why they lost the series, the biggest finger needs to be pointed at De’Aaron Fox. I know he had a hurt ankle, but my main problem with him in this series was his poor decision making down the stretch of games. Someone needs to take his clutch award away from him. He was brought to this team to be the grown man in the room. He failed his team immensely.

Another finger can be pointed at the human scarecrow, Luke Kornet. Anytime Kornet came into the game, I felt bad for him. He is so slow and unathletic. The Knicks would blow right past him for easy baskets. He was also a completely worthless on the offensive side of the ball. I am fairly certain he ended the series with more turnovers than baskets. The Spurs biggest priority needs to be getting some serviceable big men to place around Wembanyama.

A small finger needs to be pointed at head coach Mitch Johnson. He appeared to freeze in big moments. There were times where he should have called a time out, such as the end of game two and he did not. Who knows how this series plays out if he calls a time out to advance the ball and prevents Wemby from committing that all time bad turnover.

Now it is time to give the Knicks their flowers. They were the more experienced, better team in this series. They are a very worthy champion. This was one of the most dominant championship runs in recent history. It is right up there with the 2017 and 2018 Durant and Curry Warriors. That is rare air.

Although his flopping and constant complaining are not fun to watch, Jalen Brunson is now an absolute legend of the game. That man will never have to pay for another meal, or drink in the State of New York for the rest of his life.

De’Aaron Fox should honestly have to give his Clutch Player of the Year award to Brunson. Everytime Brunson shot the ball late in games I thought it was going in. Most of the time it did. That is reason number one why the Knicks won every close game.

It will be interesting to see how this Knicks team performs next season. Theoretically Boston and Indiana will be healthy and back to full strength. There is also a chance the young Pistons will improve and be a more serious threat next year.

My point is the Knicks got very lucky with their Eastern Conference matchups. They somehow avoided the three biggest threats to win the conference. They will not be so lucky next time.

Luck is always a huge factor when winning a championship. The Knicks took full advantage of the opportunity set in front of them. Huge props for them for seizing the opportunity. I look forward to watching this team play for years to come.

I still love you Wemby. This is your villain origin story. This loss will make you bigger, stronger and badder than ever.

A bientot!
